Bahlingen am Kaiserstuhl
The old winegrowing village of Bahlingen on the north-eastern edge of the Kaiserstuhl with a population of around 4,000, situated in a beautiful landscape, has retained the character of a typical Kaiserstühl winegrowing village to this day.
Beautiful half-timbered houses and winegrowers' farms dominate the townscape, surrounded by vineyards, forest and farmland. The Bergkirche, one of the oldest churches in the Kaiserstuhl, towers over the village.
The town hall in the centre of the village is a Renaissance half-timbered building dating from 1550. The Hoselips, a 250-year-old symbol of Bahlingen's viticulture, is located there. The popular village festival in Bahlingen, the Hoselipsfest, which takes place on the second weekend in September of every odd-numbered year, is named after him. In the streets and in decorated courtyards, Bahlingen clubs entertain their guests with regional specialities. Far away from the hustle and bustle of the city, you can enjoy good Baden cuisine and fine wines.
