Introducing the wine and vegetable village of Eichstetten am Kaiserstuhl
Eichstetten am Kaiserstuhl
First mentioned in writing in 737, Eichstetten is a lively wine and vegetable village with around 3,600 inhabitants and a district area of 1231 ha.
The village's landmarks are the Schwiboge, which adorn many courtyard entrances and give their name to the wine festival that takes place every two years.
It is particularly worth mentioning that 131 hectares are farmed organically, which is 25 percent and thus every fourth square metre of the total agricultural area.
The highest elevation is the Eichelspitze at 520 metres. This is where the "Eichelspitz Tower" is located, with a fantastic panoramic view over the Kaiserstuhl, the Black Forest and the Vosges Mountains. The community has a good infrastructure with farm shops, grocery shops and markets, including an organic market.
The good home-style gastronomy, the museum with annually changing exhibitions, and a local recreation area with many hiking trails, natural and cultural monuments and barbecue areas also invite you to discover them.
Also visit the seed garden (breeding and show garden) of the Kaiserstühler Garten Foundation for the preservation of cultivated plant diversity in the region.
The village is idyllically nestled in a valley on the eastern slope of the Kaiserstuhl.
