Boundless diversity in the European City
Breisach on the Rhine
The charming European city lies directly on the Rhine and sees itself as a link between the two holiday regions of the Black Forest and Alsace. The town's landmark is the St. Stephansmünster, which towers high above the town and the Rhine. From there you have a magnificent view over the Rhine plain to the Black Forest in the east and the Vosges Mountains in the west.
Historic Münsterberg
On the trail of more than 3,000 years of history: Breisach's strategically favourable location on a crossing of the Rhine has benefited many different peoples over the course of 3,000 years and thus shaped the history of the town. Thus Breisach often changed territorial affiliation. Despite being destroyed twice, in 1793 and 1945, a stroll over the Münsterberg gives a good idea of the town's eventful past. Worth seeing are the St. Stephan's Minster in Gothic-Romanesque style, the Radbrunnenturm (wheel well tower), various town gates, galleries and works of art in public spaces.
